The Future Awards Inducts Advisory Council, Honours Past Judges



The Future AwardsVENTURES AFRICA – Past judges of The Future Africa Awards & Summit (TFAAS) were Tuesday hosted to an exclusive media and VIP cocktail at The Lifehouse, Lagos as new members were inducted into the TFAAS Advisory Council for Nigeria.
“The Future Africa Awards & Summit in the last eight years has been proud of its record of impact with the Nigerian audience and the youth population,” said Mfon Ekpo, TFAAS Central Working Committee Vice-Chair.

Ekpo noted that the success has fostered the expansion of TFAAS into a pan- African movement actively present in at least 24 states across the continent. She attributed this success to the steady support of “our high-profile brain trust, including the Board of Trustees, the Board of Judges and the Independent Audit Committee.”
She noted that their expertise, extensive experience and credibility have been invaluable in structuring the process for impact and sustainability. Their belief in the vision since it began, according to her, has also ensured the success enjoyed so far.
“As the tenures for the existing boards lapse this year, we have, activated an extensive restructuring to ensure deeper impact. To this extend, we have formally inducted into our expanded Advisory Council,” said Ekpo.
Enitan Denloye; Director of Communications Etisalat Nigeria, Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of Genevieve Magazine; Betty Irabor, Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay; Olusegun Adeniyi, Folake Ani-Mumuney; Head of Corporate Communication and Marketing First Bank Nigeria, Managing Partner of Radi8 Creative; Toni Kan, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity; Dr. Reuben Abati and Nkiru Olumide-Ojo; Head of Corporate Communication Stanbic IBTC are the just inducted members of The Future Africa Award & Summit Advisory Council (Nigeria).
Co-founder of the awards, Adebola Williams expressed joy at the gathering, reminiscing how the awards started and the growth experienced in 9 years of its existence.
“The first 7 years was used in gaining ground in Nigeria,” he said. “Last year, which was the 8th edition saw the awards go continental and this year which is the 9th edition, we intend to consolidate that outreach through expanding our brain trust, including this advisory council.”
Chief executive of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen-Peters, a member of the Advisory Council recalled when she met founders of the awards Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams, who struck her “as two young men with a vision for the youths”. She added with enthusiasm; “Today we acknowledge the great works of these young men.”
Austen-Peters described the awards as “the most credible award platform” in Nigeria. She commended the transparency in setting up the Advisory Council, Nigeria for the award and the project, and also the rigorous process of nominations and choosing eventual winners.
Celebrities and CEOs flooded the glamorous event to lend their support for the project. Some of them include Nollywood actors, OC Ukeje and Gideon Okeke. Others are Shade Ladipo, Munachii Abi, Lala Akindoju Ruby Gyang, Omena Daniels.
French Consular General to Nigeria, Francois Sastowrne; Publisher of TW, Adesuwa Oyenokwe; CEO of InVivo Partners, Ngozi Edozien; founder of LEAP Africa, Ndidi Nwuneli; Director of Communications Etisalat Nigeria, Enitan Denloye; writer and PR entrepreneur Toni Kan; designer and TFAAS central working committee co-chair, Mai Atafo also graced the event.
