Canadian Maxim Resource Begins Hydrocarbon Exploration In Morocco

VENTURES AFRICA – Maxim Resource Inc, an oil and gas Exploration and Production Company (EPC) based in Vancouver, Canada has partnered the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) to begin exploration of hydrocarbons in Morocco.
“While trying to complete this work at earliest stage, we are continuing to seek for further projects and opportunities also,” said Art Brown, CEO and President Maxim Resource.
ONHYM is public organization representing the interest of Morocco in the production and exploration of hydrocarbons and mining resources.
The companies recently received a reconnaissance concession authorization to complete the research on the Hassi Berkane Block located onshore in the northeast region of Mor
occo which extends over 5116km2 with extension 2-D Seismic data.
The reconnaissance work will include geophysical, geological and geochemical surveys and a geotechnical review of already existing data.
However if the review of the data is positive, Maxim will be able to obtain exploration permit from the Ministry of Energy for some or all of the Hassi Berkane concession which allows for a one year period extension.
“Morocco is expected to see up to 30 new wells drilled in 2014,” Mr. Abdelkader Amara, Minister for Energy and Mines revealed.
Other international explorers engaged in the exploration scheme includes; BP, Chevron, Repsol, Total, Fastnet Gulfsands Petroleum, Genel Energy, Tangiers Petroleum , Anadarko, and Kosmos.
The stable environment and positive indicators of more hydrocarbon features have continued to attract foreign investors and players to Morocco.
