When the World Cup kicks off in Brazil, eight
different companies will provide jerseys to the 32 participating
nations. Nike is the leading supplier of jerseys, sponsoring 10 World
Cup teams this year – more than it ever has before and one more than
rival Adidas. But Adidas leads in overall soccer revenue – $2.4 billion
in 2013 compared to Nike's $1.9 billion, according to figures provided
by Nike and Peter Rohlmann, a marketing consultant based in Rheine,
Germany.
