Entertainer Pia Zadora has been hospitalized after suffering a serious head injury following a golf cart accident, her representative told Friday. Zadora reportedly fell from a golf cart which was driven by her 17-year-old son Jordan near her home in Summerlin, Nevada on Thursday.
The 60-year-old actress-singer’s husband, Mike Jeffries, told the Las Vegas Sun that Zadora had suffered bleeding on her brain caused by a head trauma. She also reportedly suffered a fractured ankle and some facial injuries. He added that she was in and out of consciousness, but was expected to make a full recovery.
"Pia is resting comfortably and has been moved out of
trauma care, but still remains in ICU," her representative said, according to E! News. "When she improves, she will have ankle surgery in Los Angeles in the next week or so."
Zadora, who began her career at the age of 10 with original Broadway production of "Fiddler on the Roof,” reportedly cancelled her upcoming singing engagements following her hospitalization.
Brian Panella, Zadora’s former manager and close friend said, according to Reuters: “The prognosis is excellent. She will be a little bit uncomfortable for a couple of days, but she is going to be fine.”
"But she did hit her head quite hard,” Panella reportedly added.
Zadora won the Golden Globe in 1982 for New Star of the Year for the crime drama “Butterfly.” She has also worked in movies such as “Troop Beverly Hills” and “Naked Gun 33 1/3.”
