VENTURES AFRICA – Finding information on nearby clinics or hospitals is almost impossible if you are in an unfamiliar environment or country. To address this challenge, WhatClinic.com, an Irish online medical and clinic directory has launched in South Africa to allow patients find clinics, compare services and book appointments.
The online directory company provides detailed listing of doctors, nurses and health workers. Each listing provides information on location, staff, opening hours, treatments and prices. Medical practitioners and health workers can
also locate potential patients via the platform.
WhatClinic sees South Africa as a strategic market to kickstart its African push; a study carried out by WhatClinic shows that there are a large number of overseas patients who travel to South Africa for cosmetic dental and plastic surgery. It also revealed that foreign inquiries for dental treatments in Africa’s second largest economy rose by 159 percent in the past year alone.
Caelen king, founder of WhatClinic said the company intends to empower patients with accessible and centralised information that guarantees informed decisions about their treatment are made.
A South African launch will make it the 127th country the site has pitched this service since it flagship take off in 2006. It has attracted over 100,000 clinics to listed with over one million patients visiting every month.
