TAAG Acquires New Boeing Aircraft To Allow Internet Usage

VENTURES AFRICA – TAAG Angola Airlines has acquired a Boeing 777-300 ER, the first aircraft in its fleet which will allow passengers to safely access internet and make phone calls during flights.
“The aircraft will be used to consolidate existing routes and, in all likelihood, new ones, such as the one to London, as outline in a feasibility study that was carried out,” said the airline’s spokesman Carlos Vicente.
The new airplane has capacity for 12 passengers in first class, 56 in executive class and 225 in economy, making for a total capacity of 300 passengers.
TAGG Angola Airlines, based in Luanda, operates domestic services within Angola, as well as medium-haul services in Africa and long-haul services to Brazil,Cuba,China and Portugal.
The airline was originally set up by the government in 1938. It joined the International Air Transport In June 2007, the European Union(EU) banned TAAG from entering into European airspace because of safety concerns. Following EU ban, in November 2008, the entire TAAG board was replaced and a new board was appointed with the objective of turning the carrier round, and in particular getting it removed from the EU blacklist.
