Nestlé Expands: Opens Chocolate Plant In Egypt

VENTURES AFRICA – Swiss multinational food company, Nestlé, on Monday opened its chocolate plant in Egypt. The plant is its first in Egypt, with a further regional factory to be established in Dubai.
Egypt has been receiving great attention from other food and beverage companies. Companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Saudi Arabia’s Almari have been announcing million-dollar investments in the country.
The new plant is located on the outskirts of Cairo in the 6th of October City. The plant is worth 65 million-Egyptian-pound ($9million). The company aims to export its produce to other North African markets such as Libya in the coming years.

Nandu Nandkishore, Zone director for Asia, Oceania, Africa and Middle East, told Reuters that the factory under construction in Dubai is for Maggi bouillon cubes. So far, Nestle has invested around 1 billion Egyptian pounds ($ in Egypt since the impeachment of autocratic president Hosni Mubarak.
Nestle continues to expand its ice cream and dry goods factories, despite uncertainty in political activities following a long standing violence and tension.
