Daniel Craig will return as fictional British spy James Bond, also known as 007, for the latest instalment which is set to begin filming on Monday, director Sam Mendes announced at an event at London's Pinewood Studios on Thursday.
Details of the film's plot were scant but Mendes gave a small hint of the story to fans of the Ian Fleming novels.

"The title of the twenty fourth Bond movie is Spectre. Those of you who have some knowledge of the Bond franchise and legend of Bond will probably have some idea what that refers to, but I couldn't possibly comment," Mendes said.
SPECTRE is a global terrorism organization in Fleming's novels. The organization's name stands for: Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, and it
was headed by evil genius Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who famously appears stroking a white cat in earlier films in the Bond franchise.

Naomie Harris reprises her role as assistant Miss Moneypenny, while Ralph Fiennes takes over Judi Dench's role as M, the head of the U.K.'s Secret Intelligence Service, MI6. Ben Wishaw continues as Q, the inventor of Bond's often weird and wacky gadgets.
Monica Bellucci has been cast as Lucia Sciarra, while Léa Seydoux is Madeliene Swann. Mendes gave no further details about their characters.
Former wrestling star Dave Batista, who played superhero Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, will take up the role of Mr Hinx.
