Nigerian Breweries Unveils New Drink, Heats Up Competion With Guinness

ACE
VENTURES AFRICA – Nigeria’s largest alcohol beverage maker, Nigerian, Breweries has introduced a new alcoholic beverage, ACE Passion Apple Spark. The product is first ever sparkling alcoholic drink from the company and is believed to have been produced to compete with Guinness’s Snap Apple Alcoholic drink, a top selling brand that was launched in 2012.
The ready-to-drink product was launched last Friday in two Nigerian commercial cities; Lagos and Port Harcourt.
“ACE Passion Apple Spark is a cool innovation from Nigerian breweries and it is certain this Christmas will be very exciting for young consumers who like to enjoy the good life with friends and family,” Walter Drenth, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries said at the launch.
”Passion Apple Spark”, the first of
the ACE series will be introduced in 2015.
While Guinness’s Snapp is targeted sophisticated women, Passion Apple Spark is appealed to youths. It is packaged in a 33cl bottle and contains 5.5 percent Alcohol By Volume (ABV), o.5 percent more than Guinness’s Snapp with 5 percent ABV.
While Guinness has recorded immense success in the “Ready To Drink” category where it has four brands, the Passion Apple Spark is Nigerian Breweries’ first in this category. The new product is expected to grow the earnings of Nigerian Breweries as well as heat up battle for the hotly contested alcoholic beverage market.
