VENTURES AFRICA – The
Southern Africa unit of American multinational auto-maker Ford Motor
Company has revealed that it recorded it’s best ever vehicles sale in
the region in September. The company had a record sale of 7,269 vehicles
last month, recording an improvement of 26 percent from the
corresponding period of last year.
The General Manager of Ford Motor Company of
Southern Africa (FMCSA) Rob Crouse described the new sales record in
South Africa as testament to the growing portfolio of cars trucks and
Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) that the company offers customers.
“Earlier this year we entered new territory when we broke the 6,000
sales milestone for the first time”, Crouse said, attributing the steep
rise to the type of technologies been offered to consumers, which he
described as easy to use, and complementary to their daily lives.
Ford said its record-setting sales came
from strong performances of its brands Ranger, EcoSport, Figo, and
Fiesta. It said Ranger set another all-time record with 2,629 truck
sales, cementing its second position in the Light Commercial Vehicle
(LCV) market, while Fiesta sales were the highest since September 2005, with 1,238 vehicles sold last month. EcoSport sold 788 vehicles sold, as entry-level Figo achieved sales of 1 511 vehicles.
“Ranger and Fiesta remain sought-after long after their
initial launches, Crouse said, “clearly buyers continue to find value.”
He attributed the performance of the EcoSPort and Figo to its smart
technologies, “more consumers are finding value in a modern vehicle that
meets their mobility requirements while remaining fun to drive” he
enthused.
